NES Controller Outlet Replacement


Tools: Flathead 3/32″ or 2.5 mm screwdriver, Phillips #2 screwdriver



Step 1: On the bottom of the NES, there should be six 13.25mm Phillips screws. Take them out with a #2.5 flathead screwdriver Remove the top of the console by lifting up and away



Step 2: You should see a metal cover with seven 13.25mm Phillips screws. Take them out with a Phillips head #2 screwdriver With the screws out, take off the cover by lifting up and away



Step 3: You should now see a cartridge tray with two silver screws and two bronze screws. Take them out with a Phillips head #2 screwdriver Slide the tray off the machine



Step 4: There should be three 13.25mm Phillips screws holding the motherboard to the lower case. Take them out with a Phillips head #2 screwdriver Take the motherboard assembly out of the plastic case



Step 5: Take out all three of the connections shown. The two similar-looking ones cannot be interchanged so remember which is which



Step 6: Take the metal cover off the motherboard assembly Turn over the motherboard assembly so the 72-PIN connector is on the top of the motherboard assembly



Step 7: Turn over the bottom cover of the game console Using a Phillips head #2 screwdriver, take out the two screws shown Take off the plastic cover



Step 8: Take out the controller outlet!


REVERSE THE ABOVE STEPS TO PUT THE CONSOLE BACK TOGETHER
