Nintendo DS Lite Upper LCD Replacement


Tools: Push pin, Spudger, Tri-wing screwdriver, Phillips #00 screwdriver, Soldering station, Solder


Step 1: Loosen the screw (Phillips) on the battery cover. Take off the battery cover (spudger may be useful)


Step 2: Take out the battery (spudger may be useful)


Step 3: Remove the rubber feet (spudger may once again be useful)


Step 4: Take out the screws shown 4.3 mm Phillips 3.9 mm tri-wing 3.3 mm Phillips 5.5 mm tri-wing


Step 5: Starting near the R button, slide a spudger or appropriate substitute along the edge of the device to create space between the lower and upper cases


Step 6: Take off the lower case


Step 7: Take out the trigger buttons


Step 8: Find the WiFi antenna connector and pry it up from its socket (spudger may be useful)


Step 9: Find the WiFi board connector and pry it up from its socket (spudger may be useful)


Step 10: Take the WiFi board out (spudger may be useful)


Step 11: Find the microphone connector and pry it up from its socket (spudger may be useful)


Step 12: With great caution, pull on the antenna cable on the right side of the cartridge reader to bring the connector from step 8 over to the same side IMPORTANT: If you feel any resistance while pulling, stop for a moment before continuing


Step 13: Find the flap securing the touchscreen ribbon cable and flip it up. Take the cable out of its socket (spudger may be useful)


Step 14: Take out the screws (3.4 mm Phillips) shown 


Step 15: Lift the motherboard up from the case slightly


Step 16: Open the flap securing the upper LCD ribbon cable. Take the motherboard out without damaging the upper LCD ribbon cable. Open the flap securing the lower LCD screen. Take the lower LCD screen off the motherboard


Step 17: Take out the screws (8.3 mm Phillips) shown



Step 18: Slide the upper LCD ribbon cable through the opening.



Step 19: Separate the upper case from the display without damaging the ribbon cable



Step 20: Free the remaining cables (antenna and WiFi) from the case and set the case aside



Step 21: Take out the screw covers on the front with a push pin



Step 22: Take out the screws (3.4 mm Phillips) uncovered by the previous step



Step 23: Take out the rubber pads with a spudger or appropriate substitute



Step 24: Push the rear side up slightly



Step 25: Separate the two halves with a spudger or appropriate substitute



Step 26: Rearrange the two speakers as shown with a spudger or appropriate substitute



Step 27: Take out the LCD without removing it just yet



Step 28: Take the speakers off the upper LCD (requires desoldering)


REVERSE THE ABOVE STEPS TO PUT THE CONSOLE BACK TOGETHER
