Repairing Nintendo 64 Motherboard


Tools: Metal spudger, Phillips #1 screwdriver, 4.2mm Gamebit



Step 1: Take off the expansion pack cover



Step 2: Remove the expansion pack using a spudger or appropriate substitute



Step 3: Turn the console over and take out the six screws shown in the picture with a screwdriver



Step 4: On the bottom in the two front corners there should be two “feet” – take them out.



Step 5: Turn the console back over and take off the top cover



Step 6: Take out the fourteen screws shown in the picture (large screwdriver)



Step 7: Remove the front of the indicated metal plate from its housing and put it aside.



Step 8: Take out the two screws shown (small screwdriver)



Step 9: Take out the screw shown (large screwdriver)



Step 10: In the back of the slot for the expansion pack you will see a small metal bracket. Take it out.



Step 11: You will also need to take out the bracket in the front of the slot, but for this one you should use a spudger



Step 12: Now take out the bracket behind the slot with a spudger



Step 13: Take out the seven screws shown (large screwdriver)



Step 14: Take off the metal plate shown



Step 15: Take out the four screws shown (large screwdriver)



Step 16: Take out the motherboard!

REVERSE THE ABOVE STEPS TO PUT THE CONSOLE BACK TOGETHER
