Weekly Dose of Gaming News - 0MEGAVIZI0N's Debut EP Omikronian

Weekly Dose of Gaming News - 0MEGAVIZI0N's Debut EP Omikronian

We love retro games here, so of course we love retro gaming music! That's exactly what the debut EP from 0MEGAVIZI0N delivers, and then some. The album is titled Omikronian and is much more than just 8-bit music. It's not actually a game soundtrack, however it tells the story of the game being played in real time.

Omikronian follows a character named Pants Fad as they "travel through time and space to save the future from certain doom brought forth by an evil thaumaturgist from Omikronia."

Throughout the album, you will hear all of the sounds associated with boss battles, running, jumping, earning points, and even dying. All of these sounds are harmoniously layered into the composition, creating a truly unique combined Musical and gaming experience. The songs bring up nostalgic feelings from the NES and Atari era of games which is exactly what the artists were going for.

One of the composers, Jimmy Burdine, shares their vision for the album saying, "It's not a purist 8-bit album, it's more inspired by retro 80s video game music." We love the journey we're taken on listening to Omikronian and highly recommend checking it out.

Are you a fan of 8-bit music?

Weekly Dose of Gaming News - Panasonic Avionics Partners With BANDAI NAMCO

Weekly Dose of Gaming News - Panasonic Avionics Partners With BANDAI NAMCO

Retro games are enjoying quite the renaissance, which is fine by us.

The retro game takeover is continuing with the partnering of Panasonic Avionics and the iconic Japanese games developer and publisher Bandai Namco.

Panasonic Avionics designs and sells customized in-flight entertainment to many large airlines, and they're now adding the likes of Pac-Man and Dig Dug to their entertainment roster. Chief Executive Officer of Panasonic Avionics Corporation spoke to the partnership, saying, "The gaming industry is one of the few that have seen significant growth amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. This demonstrates the value global consumers place on games and their unique ability to take players on digital adventures and provide connections to different communities." Well, that's one way to make traveling less exhausting and monotonous.

While Panasonic isn't telling us all of the games we can expect to play in flights, they have confirmed that we'll be able to enjoy Pac-Man, Galaga, and Dig Dug.

Would you forego the usual in-flight movies and TV shows to play some retro games instead?

Weekly Dose of Gaming News - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge

Weekly Dose of Gaming News - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles gives us some mega nostalgic feelings. Between the cartoons, movies, and games, TMNT was a big part of our lives growing up. That's why we are beyond excited to hear that we're getting a brand new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game titled Shredder's Revenge.

This side-scrolling beat 'em up is being developed by Tribute Games and published by Dotemu, who are the developers behind Streets of Rage 4. Shredder's Revenge will throw back to the 1987 TMNT aesthetics that we know and love, with the turtle design, and retro pixel art graphics. The game will be released for both console and PC, and will have a four player Co-Op available, which really brings back the nostalgia. You will obviously get the chance to battle Shredder, but other classic enemies like Krang and Bebop and Rocksteady will make an appearance as well.

There is a steam page sharing some details, saying, "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Shredders' Revenge, sees the turtles battle across a righteous range of timeless TMNT locations. From Manhattan and Coney Island to city rooftops and dank sewers, help the fearsome foursome trounce Foot Soldiers, Triceraton warriors, and Rock Troops, all the way to Dimension X!"

There had better be pizza involved somewhere in there! We are pretty hyped to give Shredder's Revenge a play, and we'll be keeping a close eye on a release date.

      Are you a TMNT fan?

Weekly Dose of Gaming News - Pizza Hut and Pac Man

Weekly Dose of Gaming News - Pizza Hut and Pac Man

Modern and retro worlds collide with Pizza Hut's Pac-Man throwback. QR allows you to play an augmented reality Pac-Man game printed on select Pizza Hut pizza boxes.

Pizza Hut CMO George Felix shared the idea behind the new marketing campaign with Adweek saying "It's rooted in all the things that people love about pizza, and the iconic elements of our brand—whether it's the Tiffany lamps, the red cups, the red-and-white checkered tablecloths, or of course, our iconic pizza. And part of that experience that people used to have a Pizza Hut was playing the video games and the table top Pac-Man games. So it's about making all of those things relevant in a new way."

Instead of the nostalgia that you may feel from the classic games like Pac-Man, Pizza Hut has coined a new term, Newstalgia. Call it whatever you want, we're excited for another reason to play more retro games.

The most exciting part about this campaign is that you can enter to win your very own Pac-Man game cabinet by sharing your score on Twitter. That's right, you could have an actual Pac-Man cabinet in your house.

Be right back, we have some pizza to order and some Pac-Man to play!
