The Mega Cat-alogue: 5 New Steam Games to Play (June Week 2)

One of our favorite parts of digging through Steam is never knowing what we’ll stumble across next.

This week’s search turned up a legendary RPG remake, floating sky-island homesteads, magical bouquets, wandering spirits, and a highly trained assassin bean. Not a bean-themed game. Not a bean-inspired character. Just Killer Bean.

As always, our curiosity got the better of us. Fortunately, we still had a few lives to spare.

Gothic 1 Remake

Released on June 6, 2026 | Action, RPG • Alkimia Interactive / THQ Nordic

A faithful remake of the 2001 cult RPG, returning players to a dangerous prison colony where survival depends on who you trust, who you anger, and which faction you choose to join.

What Caught Our Eye

We kept coming back to the Colony itself. A magical barrier meant to contain prisoners spirals out of control, trapping everyone inside and turning an entire mining operation into a lawless territory ruled by rival factions.

What helps sell the setting is how active it appears to be. Prisoners, guards, and wildlife all follow their own routines throughout the day, creating the sense that the Colony continues moving whether you’re involved or not. For a remake of a 2001 RPG, that’s the kind of detail we were curious to see preserved.

Why It’s Worth Your Time

Gothic remains one of the most influential cult RPGs of its era, and this remake looks designed to introduce a new generation of players to what made it stand out in the first place.

Between its faction-driven progression, dynamic NPC routines, and expanded questlines, there seems to be plenty here for both longtime fans and newcomers curious about a classic RPG that still has a passionate following more than two decades later.

Solarpunk™

Released on June 8, 2026 | Open World Survival Craft, Simulation • Cyberwave / rokaplay, Metaroot

Build a self-sustaining home among the clouds, using renewable energy, automation, and your own airship to explore a network of floating islands.

What Caught Our Eye

Instead of throwing players into a harsh wasteland and asking them to scrape by, Solarpunk builds its world around renewable energy, skybound communities, and the idea of creating something sustainable.

The energy systems are a big part of what makes the game feel different. Solar panels, wind turbines, batteries, and automation all play a major role in how your base functions, making the game feel as much about building interconnected systems as it is about gathering resources.

Why It’s Worth Your Time

Solarpunk looks like it takes many of the systems players already love from survival crafting games and reframes them through a much more optimistic lens. Building a home, growing food, automating routine tasks, and exploring distant islands all seem geared toward creating a world you'd actually want to spend time in.

The ability to build your own airship and travel to distant islands also adds a strong sense of adventure, giving players more reasons to leave their carefully crafted skybound community behind in search of something new.

Puni the Florist

Released on June 8, 2026 | Casual, Simulation • Earthquack Games

A cozy simulation game where you run a magical flower shop, create custom bouquets, and navigate daily life alongside a well-meaning but wonderfully chaotic flower fairy.

What Caught Our Eye

Puni the Florist asks players to do more than arrange pretty bouquets. Customer requests are tied to floriography, encouraging you to learn the meanings behind different flowers and use them to create arrangements that carry a specific message.

That extra layer gives the shopkeeping loop a fun sense of purpose. Between filling out your scrapbook and experimenting with different flower combinations, there’s room for creativity beyond simply matching colors and decorations.

Why It’s Worth Your Time

Puni the Florist appears to balance its creative mechanics with a lighthearted, character-driven story. Apart from decorating your shop, expanding your flower collection, and getting to know the town’s residents, there’s so much to do outside of running the day-to-day business.

For players who enjoy cozy games with a creative twist, this looks like a relaxing way to spend an afternoon surrounded by flowers, friendly faces, and occasional fairy-induced chaos.

Killer Bean

Released on June 8, 2026 | Action, Third-Person Shooter • Killer Bean Studios LLC

An open-world action shooter based on the cult animation series, starring a rogue assassin bean on a mission that somehow keeps escalating.

What Caught Our Eye

There’s something deeply funny about the fact that Killer Bean has evolved into a full-fledged action game. Not a joke game. Not a parody. A legitimate open-world shooter with procedurally generated campaigns, rival factions, boss fights, vehicles, and enough action-movie energy to power several different games.

The randomized campaign structure makes the whole thing even harder to predict. Missions, locations, and story elements all shift between playthroughs, making each run feel a little different from the last.

Why It’s Worth Your Time

Killer Bean looks like it understands exactly why people love the series and refuses to tone any of it down. Between the over-the-top action, procedural progression systems, and a world built around constant chaos, it seems determined to fully embrace its premise.

For players who enjoy action games that prioritize unpredictability and spectacle, this looks like one worth keeping an eye on throughout Early Access.

Spirit Talk - Cozy Visual Novel

Released on June 9, 2026 | Casual, Visual Novel • Tortita Studio

A cozy visual novel where a young witch helps spirits recover lost memories and find peace through conversation, potion crafting, and a little bit of magic.

What Caught Our Eye

Spirit Talk puts a fun spin on the usual visual novel formula by making memory restoration part of the core gameplay loop. When spirits arrive at Julia's agency, they often struggle to remember important details about their lives. Helping them piece those memories back together involves brewing potions and figuring out the right moment to use them.

That combination of storytelling and light potion-crafting gives the game a little more interactivity than simply clicking through dialogue, while still keeping the focus on its characters and their stories.

Why It’s Worth Your Time

Spirit Talk looks geared toward players who enjoy slower-paced narrative games and character-driven storytelling. With its multiple endings, hand-drawn presentation, and focus on helping both spirits and townsfolk work through unfinished business, there’s a lot to uncover.

The cozy atmosphere and lo-fi soundtrack also make it feel like the kind of game designed for settling in for a few hours and seeing where each story leads.
