The Mega Cat-alogue: 5 New Steam Games to Play (September Week 5)
Finding your place can be tricky when there's always somewhere new to discover. Good thing we're not afraid to poke around.
Before the spooky season gets its claws into us, we’re heading back to Steam to see where our next adventure takes us. This week’s lineup drops us into unfamiliar worlds where we get to find our footing and figure out what the heck we’re doing. New places, new problems. You know the drill.
So settle in. There’s still time to find your place before things get a little more interesting around here. We’ll deal with whatever comes next when we get there.
Fallen Tear: The Ascension
Release Date: September 23, 2026 | Metroidvania • Winter Crew Studios, CMD Studios
Step into Raoah as Hira, a mysterious child with a dark element and a pretty big destiny ahead of him. Explore a hand-drawn Metroidvania world, build bonds with allies, and discover how the people you meet can shape your journey.
What Caught Our Eye
The people Hira meets can actually change how he moves through Raoah. Fallen Tear gives its allies abilities that can help in combat and open up new ways through the world, so building relationships becomes part of figuring out how you want to play. And with 22 allies to meet, we already know picking favorites is going to be a problem.
Why It’s Worth Your Time
Raoah gives you room to wander, while combat lets you swap weapons and abilities as you learn what works against each enemy. Boss fights will push you to pay attention to attack patterns and adjust your strategy, while the Temple of Oras gives you a place to build up between adventures.
TOEM 2
Release Date: September 29, 2026 | Hand-drawn Adventure • Something We Made, popagenda
Grab your camera and set off on a cozy adventure where curiosity is your best guide. Explore new places, photograph mysterious TOEMs, help the people you meet, and fill your journal with the little discoveries you make along the way.
What Caught Our Eye
TOEM 2 makes the camera feel like more than a way to record your trip. You can use it to investigate strange events, uncover hidden details, and even solve problems as you move through each new area. The fact that your camera gets its own attachments makes us curious about what else we’ll be able to point it at.
Why It’s Worth Your Time
You can wander through each area at your own pace, with no time limits getting in the way of your sightseeing. Your journal keeps track of discoveries, quests, and critters as you explore, while camera attachments give you new ways to solve puzzles and reach the next part of your adventure. Plus, you can always stop for a quiet moment when you need a break.
Frutiger Home
Release Date: September 29, 2026 | Simulation, Decorating • frutigerdev
Build your dream Frutiger Aero home and make the space your own. Choose a layout, fill it with colorful retro-futuristic decor, then invite your friends over to hang out in the space you created.
What Caught Our Eye
Frutiger Home takes that glossy, optimistic vision of the future that lived all over the early internet and turns it into a place you can actually step inside. Decorating your own version of that world is half the fun, especially when you start wondering how far you can push the look. Now comes the important question: how much blue glass and suspiciously perfect greenery can one house handle?
Why It’s Worth Your Time
You get the freedom to decide what your home looks like, with different layouts and a wide selection of Frutiger Aero furniture and decorations. The co-op side makes it even more fun, since friends can help decorate before everyone settles in for a hangout. Once the house is finished, you can actually live in it instead of just admiring the finished room.
Chromascape
Release Date: October 1, 2026 | Cozy Adventure • Zoo Corporation
Luna the hedgehog has discovered a strange power in a world slowly losing its color. Explore Palette Planet, restore its fading hues, and use color itself to change the environment around you.
What Caught Our Eye
Color isn't just decoration in Chromascape. It becomes part of how Luna interacts with the world, giving the game's soft, hand-drawn look a practical purpose. Warm colors can create fire, while cool tones can freeze water, making the right color an important part of solving each puzzle.
Why It’s Worth Your Time
The puzzles ask you to think about how each color can change the environment and open up new paths. Luna can also work with companions who bring their own abilities into the adventure, letting you reach places that would otherwise stay out of reach. As you restore the world, familiar areas can take on a whole new purpose.
Wizard Harder or Get Laid Off
Release Date: October 2, 2026 | Casual, Time Management • Old Man Baby Games
Getting a new job is hard enough without having to become a wizard first. After being evicted from their homes, you and up to three friends head to a new kingdom, take on quests, train your abilities, and work your way toward becoming Grand Wizard.
What Caught Our Eye
In this economy, getting laid off is bad enough. Getting evicted and having to find work in a new kingdom? That’s rough. Wizard Harder Or Get Laid Off turns that situation into a very strange career path, complete with a king to impress and goblins causing problems at the border.
Why It’s Worth Your Time
Quests help fund your wizard training, while ten different buildings give you ways to develop your character. You can learn new spells, train a familiar to fight alongside you, customize your wizard's outfit, and even bring gifts to the king. And yes, you still need to eat. Even wizards have to deal with lunch breaks.
And just like that, we’ve found five new places to explore, settle into, or completely lose the plot in. That’s the fun of starting somewhere new. You never really know what you’ll find once you get comfortable.
We’ll see what the coming months have in store for us. Hopefully it’s nothing too spooky. See you in the next Mega Cat-alogue! 🐾
