Pixel Art Round Up with Alex Sy - I Dracula Genesis & Olija

Pixel Art Round Up with Alex Sy - I Dracula Genesis & Olija

Almost everyone and their grandma has a Nintendo Switch, and for sure those grandmas love pixel art games. 2021 has a few games set for release, so let’s take a look at a couple of Switch games that might have flew under your radar until now.

If you enjoy roguelite or roguelike games, then you’ll love I, Dracula: Genesis. It has weapons, upgrades to those weapons, spells you can use as weapons, alien artifacts, and strange mechanical and magical devices, all of which you can use as weapons. You can never have too much. Make no mistake, this is not an easy game for the unfamiliar. But if you’re up to the challenge of going up every demon and monster in the immediate vicinity with high power weaponry, I I, Dracula: Genesis is for you.

We’re going from laser swords and pulse rifles, to a legendary harpoon and nothing but your will to survive. Olija is an action-packed metroidvania that lets you take on the quest of Faraday. Just your regular everyday shipwrecked guy who just wants to make it out of a hostile country in one piece. You’ll be doing a lot of exploring as you platform, puzzle, and fight your way through a beautiful world inspired by old tiny sailor’s tales and Asian legends. The lo-fi soundtrack immerses you as you uncover the story behind Terraphage, the land you find yourself in, and a mysterious woman who joins you on your quest. Yes, her name is Olija. Surprise!

So what do you look for in a Switch game? Explosions? Blood and gore? Or an epic tale of magic and mystery?
