Pittsburgh, PA (November 3, 2026) - Mega Cat Studios — Every legend has a beginning, and a new chapter in retro gaming awaits at Super MAGFest 2027! The MAGFest Indie Retro Homebrew Showcase returns with 23 finalist games, bringing fresh adventures and creative twists to classic gaming platforms.

From January 7–10, 2027, join us at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in National Harbor, MD, and get hands-on with this year’s lineup. Your next gaming favorite might be just around the corner!

Attendees can go hands-on with each title from the MAGFest Indie Retro 2027 lineup:

• A Journey Into The Unknown (NES)
  

• Step into a procedurally generated NES dungeon where every run brings a different mix of rooms, traps, enemies, and items. Choose one of three knights with unique abilities, adapt to the dangers ahead, and search for a way home.

• Amberly Hollow (GBC)
  

• Build a life in Amberly, a village full of quests and secrets, in this Game Boy Color life-sim RPG. Master new skills, gather resources for villagers, and use your hard-earned gold to upgrade your home and gear.

• Astro Burn (GB)
  

• Blast through a colorful, chaotic universe as Astro, a space cat searching for home with her robot companion. Stack snack-powered abilities, dodge deadly hazards, and take on absurd enemies and unhinged bosses in this fast-paced cute-em-up.

• Beyond the Pins: The 2nd Frame (NES)
  

• Get the bowling alley ready for its annual tournament in this point-and-click adventure set in the quirky town of Cinema Hills. When an unexpected twist throws everything off course, test your problem-solving skills and help an unlikely hero save the day.

• Billy’s Bad Day (TG-16)

• Billy just wants to get home, but a world full of shady shopkeepers and unruly troublemakers has other plans. Fight back in this darkly comic descent from a clean-cut good guy to an unwitting bad guy, where standing up for your rights as a consumer comes at a cost.

• Cursed Castilla Requiem (Genesis/MD)
  

• Battle your way through a dark world inspired by medieval Spanish folklore in this challenging arcade action game reimagined for the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive. Explore new routes and tackle exclusive stages in this expanded take on the acclaimed retro adventure, with a two-player mode also planned.

• Rise again as Dracula’s decapitated head in this Castlevania-inspired search-action adventure. Investigate a shipwreck and its unforgiving underwater depths, reclaim your missing body parts, and escape the watery grave that threatens to keep you buried forever.

• Play as Isa, a goofy girl with godlike psychic powers and questionable common sense, in this comedy puzzle-adventure for the Game Boy. Explore from a top-down view perspective and solve first-person point-and-click puzzles as Isa takes on a job that could save her pet… or destroy the universe.

• Race through the aisles in this Game Boy Color take on the hit ‘90s game show! Fill your cart with more than 700 authentic supermarket items, tackle bonus mini-games, and see how your shopping skills stack up on the online scoreboard.

• The Book of Rynn (NES)

• Embark on four connected adventures in this classic NES RPG inspired by Dragon Warrior. Explore towns and dungeons, build your party, and face strategic turn-based battles as you uncover the secrets of Rynn, all designed for real NES hardware.

• Toxic Crusaders (Genesis/MD, NES, GB)

• Take to the streets as Toxie, a super-powered cleanup hero born from a toxic waste accident, in this retro beat ‘em up based on the hit animated series. Fight back against Dr. Killemoff and his army of mutant pollutants to save Tromavilla.
