Weekly Dose of Gaming News - Arcade Paradise

Have you ever wanted to open your very own arcade but can't because, well, it's expensive? Well, here's your chance with a new game releasing this year called Arcade Paradise.

The retro-themed game is being developed by Nosebleed Interactive and published by Wired Productions. You play as Ashley, who has been given the keys to the family business, a laundromat. Being smart and cool, you decide to turn it into a super rad arcade.

The Steam page shares that you can "Choose from over 35 games to be in the arcade inspired by three decades of gaming, all of which are playable with high scores to set. Stay one step ahead of your father, manage and invest profits, and build your very own Arcade Paradise!" And if you're a fan of 90s music, you'll love the soundtrack, which is "inspired by some of the great records of the early 90s."

There isn't a release date just yet, but we'll be keeping track of when Arcade Paradise is available to play because we're excited.

Weekly Dose of Gaming News - Zelda Game & Watch and Tamagotchi Smart

You guys remember Tamagotchi pets, right? The little digital pets that we spend every hour of every day on for a month, and then they died after we forgot about them in some corner of our room? Well, they're coming back in watch-form along with the Legend of Zelda-themed Game & Watch console.

The Zelda-themed Game & Watch is releasing to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the franchise and will include four games: The Legend of Zelda, Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, Link's Awakening, and an updated version of Vermin, with Link smashing the moles. We can't believe it's been 35 years since the beloved franchise launched. Speaking of which, we also can't believe it's been 25 years since the release of the original Tamagotchi pets.

The upcoming smartwatches come in various colors and bear a striking resemblance to the initial pets. They come with new characters and you can use your voice to wake them up and pet them. They will also have a camera, a clock, and a pedometer, so they're obviously multi-purpose and totally necessary right?

The Zelda Game & Watch will be available on November 12th, but the Tamagotchi Smart will only be available in Japan. We're keeping a very close eye on any international release for our little nostalgia pets.

Weekly Dose of Gaming News - Retro Case for the PS5

We take our retro gaming very seriously here. So, when we saw this video taking a brand new PS5 and retro buying it, we were intrigued.

The 12 and a half minute video was made by YouTube channel DIY perks and encases the console in an American dark walnut wood shell. The video points out that the internal workings of the PS5 are actually quite compact, and the reason for the bulky casing is to make room for the cooling heat sink. So, taking the components and creating a new press and cooling system takes a bit of size off the original case. Mostly, it just looks cool as hell and we want one.

Since this is a one off-build, it isn't something that can be bought, unfortunately. However, the video does show a step-by-step, so if you think you're crafty enough, you can give it a try. If you do, please let us know!

Weekly Dose of Gaming News - Awesome Retro Collection

Retro gaming and collecting can get out of hand very easily and start to take up a lot of space, we know from experience. So when we saw one TikToker's space-saving setup, we were pretty impressed!

The TikTok user in question goes by the name charlietheadventurevan and he is an avid retro console collector with a very clever way of storing it all.

He posted a video on the video-sharing social networking site that started off by showing us a large wooden box, saying, "When people ask what else we have built besides the van..." We were then treated to the contents inside, and they are glorious. When you open the box inside lid has a flat screen TV with a video switch to move between the five consoles that are also stored in there. In the video you can see an NES, Nintendo 64, GameCube, PlayStation 2, and Nintendo Switch, all with their respective controllers. There is even enough room for more consoles, should he like to add to the collection. He's still missing the SNES and Sega Genesis, we're just saying.

Weekly Dose of Gaming News - Classic Gameboy Mines Cryptocurrency

We all remember our first Gameboy. Sitting in long car rides playing Tetris, Super Mario Land, Gargoyle's Quest, and many more. Well, now there's one more thing the classic handheld console can do: Mine cryptocurrency.

YouTube channel stacksmashing made an eight minute video showing you how to take your Gameboy, a Gameboy Link Cable, and a Raspberry Pi Pico microcomputer to connect to a Bitcoin Node and a Bitcoin Network and get to work. If you're not familiar with the Gameboy Link Cable, it was used back in the day to trade game characters or items with other players, usually in Pokemon. Using that cable to connect the Raspberry Pi is really quite ingenious.

As cool as this is, the question remains, is it worth it? The short answer is no. Apparently, at the rate that the Frankenstein the Gameboy can mine Bitcoins, it would take a quadrillion years to get a single coin. To put that into perspective, a quadrillion hours is more than the age of the universe.
